Summit Broadband Continues Growth Curve After Acquisition

Company offers fiber optic technology shown to enhance communities.

Bonita Springs, Fla. (June 20, 2016) – Since acquiring NuVue, US Metro, and Marco Island Cable, in 2013, Summit Broadband has seen strong growth in southwest Florida. Much of this is due to the increasing demand for high speed internet available on Summit Broadband’s fiber optic network.

“We are a young advanced technology company,” said Mark Lipford, Chief Operating Officer, Summit Broadband. “This allows us to focus on future proofing our customers, instead of upgrading, repairing or replacing old network systems, like many of our competitors.”

Summit Broadband brings residential service with internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps (1,000x1,000), all-digital crystal clear high definition TV, and phone to more than 200 residential communities in southwest Florida.

This is important to homeowners since living in a neighborhood with fiber optic connectivity has been shown to increase resale values. According to University of Colorado and Carnegie Mellon University, fiber-optic connections, can add $5,437 to the price of a $175,000 home—about as much as a fireplace, or half the value of a bathroom.

In addition to providing residential service, Summit Broadband provides commercial services to assisted living facilities, hotels, hospitals, government buildings, and other types of businesses, with fiber-to-the-premise services, with speeds up to 10 Gbps (10,000x10,000) and telephone service.

In southwest Florida, Summit Broadband has 275 route miles of fiber optic lines, with 70 additional route miles installed since 2013. This includes significant enhancements to the existing network, and expansion into adjacent areas. Much of the upgrades and additional routes are in Marco Island, Fort Myers, Naples, and unincorporated Lee and Collier county areas.

“It’s important to us as a company to provide a world class customer service experience to both our residential and commercial customers,” explains Lipford. “Over the past few years, we have made significant progress in being recognized for our customer service and expanding our fiber network to more areas.”

Since 2013, Summit Broadband has increased staff by about 50 percent so as to meet the needs of the growing customer base. To ensure outstanding face to face customer service, the company has also opened three retail storefronts in southwest Florida.

“We take a white-glove approach with our customers. We may be smaller than other providers, but that gives us a chance to provide a more personal and superior level of service,” said Summit Broadband Chief Operating Officer, Mark Lipford.

The value of Internet infrastructure, namely in fiber optic networks, has been realized in other communities across the country, including Detroit, Chattanooga, and Orlando. It is a strong and compelling lure to companies needing stable, fast bandwidth, and offers a superior home office experience. It is an important utility, as necessary as electricity or roads.
